The Development Foundation is about to begin a new chapter in its long history of service to our community and our economy with the naming of Bob Mundt as our new president and CEO. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as interim president during the past seven months. I will be welcoming Bob in mid-July and handing over the reins with pride, thanks to a dedicated staff and a growing Sioux Falls area economy.
2018 started with strong interest in Sioux Falls from companies throughout North America. Our successful national marketing efforts continue to pay dividends as more and more business decision makers put the Sioux Falls area on their short list of places to check out for expansion. The inquiries we have been fielding during the first six months of this development season have involved a wide variety of industries looking at the many opportunities our region offers. Foundation Park sites have attracted the most interest—with their rail-ready access and excellent highway infrastructure connections—but the advantages of doing business throughout the Sioux Falls area keeps companies visiting our website and ringing our telephones.
The people who keep the information flowing and answer those requests from corporate leaders interested in expanding or relocating to Sioux Falls are among the best I’ve ever worked with. We’re a great team, and with our partners in City Hall, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and our regional business community, we’re ready to help Bob Mundt write that new chapter in the growth of the Sioux Falls region.
For over 60 years, the Development Foundation has been a force for growth and prosperity throughout the Sioux Falls area. We’ve worked hard to add jobs, grow our workforce and help companies expand and put down new roots in the region. We’re strongly committed to building on that legacy. It’s been a pleasure to lead that process during the past months. Now I look forward to continuing my role as vice president for economic development and being part of Bob Mundt’s team!
