The WIN in Workforce Summit, hosted by the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, will be held from 1 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
Breakout sessions, which feature more than 40 speakers from the region's largest employers, including Avera Health, Howalt+McDowell, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC, Midco, Raven Industries and Sanford Health, include a variety of workforce-focused themes. Panelists will present strategies for engaging youth, resettlement and re-entry as a way of reimagining the workforce, unique acquisition strategies, creative employer branding, the innovation equation and elevating the conversation around mental health.
The program is varied enough that it will apply to executive leadership, H.R. professionals and a broad spectrum of the Sioux Falls region that shares the common goal of developing and attracting talent, including educators, business owners and community leaders.
"This event will call together industry leaders, innovative educators, and business professionals from the greater Sioux Falls area to prioritize, strategize, and energize workforce development," said Denise Guzzetta, Vice President of Talent & Workforce Development for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation.
In addition to offering robust content sessions on innovative and relevant trends and best practices in workforce, the 2019 WIN Summit also allows attendees to earn 5.0 Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recertification credits.
"Attendees will share and learn effective strategies to grow their businesses and showcase innovative ways to increase supply and foster development of the city of Sioux Falls," Guzzetta said.
Most notably, the closing session of the WIN in Workforce Summit calls together six presidents of the region's colleges and universities to discuss how the state's educational institutions work together to better the workforce in the Sioux Falls area. The panel of presidents, including USF's Dr. Brett Bradfield, SDSU's Barry Dunn, USD's Sheila Gestring, DSU's Dr. Jose-Marie Griffiths, Southeast Tech's Bob Griggs, and Augustana's Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, will be moderated by Mayor Paul TenHaken.
Attendees can still register on-site at the Sioux Falls Convention Center; registration begins at 12 noon, with the keynote speaker, business ethics expert Chuck Gallagher, to kick off the conference at 1:00 p.m.
