One of the best things about that annual turn of the calendar that brings us to a new year is the prospect of endless possibility and bright promise. That’s why we make New Year’s resolutions, start new exercise programs and think strategically about the twelve months to come. We’re energized by the clean slate before us in 2018.
Here at the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, we’re poised to fill that slate with exciting news in the coming year—and we have solid reasons for the confidence we feel going into 2018.
1. Sioux Falls has a business advantage. By now you’ve heard that Forbes magazine has named us the best small city in the country for business and careers. But that’s only part of the story. Business decision makers in the Midwest and around the nation are increasingly aware of our tax advantages, our high productivity levels and our pro-business government attitude. When it’s time to expand a company or relocate to a place where higher profits are possible, executives are thinking Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
2. We’ve got land and buildings. The range of industries that have succeeded in Sioux Falls is incredibly diverse, from bio-medical research to financial services to agricultural processing. One of the reasons so many businesses do well here is the availability of buildings and sites, plus 21st century infrastructure. Companies coming to Sioux Falls get up and running faster, operate more profitably and grow sooner than in other regions.
3. Great partnerships make things happen. We have a team approach to economic development that provides solid gains for our community, our surrounding counties and our state. The Governor’s Office of Economic Development communicates with us every week about prospects, programs and possibilities for the Sioux Falls area. The City of Sioux Falls thinks about the future, and creates opportunity for businesses and new residents in every corner of our community. The Lincoln and Minnehaha County Economic Development Associations work seamlessly with the Development Foundation to grow our entire region, recognizing that economic development benefits all of our hometowns.
We’ve got a lot of reasons to be optimistic about 2018. We can’t wait to get the New Year started!
