Join us for the groundbreaking of the Boys & Girls Club at McGovern Middle School!
With the ability to serve hundreds of students each day, the Boys & Girls Club will provide new services and opportunities for George McGovern students and their families after-school, on non-school days and weekdays during the summer months.
The new Boys & Girls Club will be an over 16,000 square foot facility dedicated to providing youth a productive and engaging space to call their own – during a time in their life when they need it most. This facility will include, but is not limited to:
• Innovation labs where youth can experience and grow their interest in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math through the use of technology.
• A multi-purpose gymnasium provides youth a designated area for healthy lifestyles, competitive sports, and recreational games.
• A dedicated culinary space for youth to learn and expand their culinary skills with the help of local partners in an industrial kitchen setting.
• A studio allows youth to express their artistic creativity through lyricism, podcasting, and musical exploration.
• Social spaces designed to promote connectivity between youth and their peers with activities and mealtimes.
The groundbreaking will take place on the south end of the middle school.
Directions and Parking information: From I-29, go west on Maple Street. Turn south on Eagles Nest Ave, just west of George McGovern Middle School. Proceed to the school parking lot (second entrance). Park on the south side of the parking lot.
